Day 1

Sunday, May 4th

Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu (Tribhuvan) International Airport, a representative from our Nepalese outfitter will welcome you and transfer you to our hotel. In the evening, we will join for a welcome dinner of traditional Nepali fare in a restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu followed by a briefing of the tour. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2

Monday, May 5th

Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu

After breakfast, we will begin a guided cultural tour of the many world heritage sites in Kathmandu, including visits to the pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath Temple, the Bouddhanath Stupa (the worlds largest), the Swoyambhunath Stupa (also known as monkey temple) and the historical Kathmandu Durbar Square. After the city tour, we will return to our hotel for a rest and dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu

Day 3

Tuesday, May 6th

Drive to Chitwan & Trishuli River rafting

After breakfast, we will travel to the Trishuli river, where we will embark on a 3-hour river rafting adventure. We will have lunch on the river bank and then travel to Chitwan National Park.  After checking into our hotel, our guide will brief us on the full spectrum of nature programs in Chitwan. After the briefing, we will take a walking tour of the village with a visit to the Elephant breeding center before returning to our hotel for dinner. Overnight near Chitwan National Park.

Day 4

Wednesday, May 7th

Jungle excursion at Chitwan

Today we will rise quite early for breakfast then transfer to the entrance of Chitwan where we will board jeeps for a jungle safari where we will hope to see the endangered Indian (Asian one-horned) Rhino, as well as several species of birds and deer.  If we are particularly lucky, we may get a glimpse of the rare Bengal tiger. After lunch, we will have a chance to observe domestic elephants bathing in the river, then go a short canoe ride before dinner. Overnight near Chitwan National Park

 Day 5

Thursday, May 8th

Drive to Lumbini

On this morning, we will depart before breakfast to the Rapti River bank, where up to 250 different species of birds reside – a true paradise for bird watchers! After breakfast, we will depart for the city of  Lumbini to visit the Maya Devi Temple, the birthplace of Buddha. You can also explore the Ashoka Pillar, which has inscriptions identifying this as the birthplace of Buddha. Amongst ruins of ancient stupas and monasteries, we will visit the Pushkarni Pond, where Queen Mayadevi is said to have taken a bath before giving birth to Buddha. The United Nations has agreed to designate Lumbini as a WORLD PEACE CITY.   The China Temple, Myanmar Temple, Japan Temple, Sri Lanka Temple, Vietnam Temple, and many others are the main attractions here. Dinner and overnight in Lumbini.

Day 6

Friday, May 9th

Drive to Tansen

After breakfast, we will travel to one of the most popular summer resorts in Nepal,  Tansen, set on the southern side of the Mahabharat range at 1400 meters in elevation. Here you will see panoramic views of the Himalayas. After check-in at our hotel, we will proceed for a tour of the area. Dinner and overnight in Tansen.

Day 7

Saturday, May 10th

Drive to Pokhara

After breakfast, we will travel to Pokhara, the adventure capital of Nepal. This pleasant drive will show you some of the diverse landscapes of Nepal. After reaching Pokhara, we will check into our hotel and you will have the evening to explore or relax at your own pace.

Day 8

Sunday, May 11th

Sunrise & sightseeing tour

We will depart early this morning to drive to Sarangkot to watch the sunrise view over the Himalayas and then return to our hotel for breakfast (1& 1/2 hours each way). After breakfast, we will embark on a full-day sight seeing tour of Pokhara, Davi’s Falls, Guptashor Cave, Seti Gorge and the Peace Stupa. Dinner and overnight in Pokhara.

Day 9

Monday, May 12th

Drive to Ghandruk

After breakfast, we will drive to Ghandruk. This destination is popular with trekkers and is known for it’s beautiful mountain vistas. Ghandrung is also home to the Gurung people, one of the many ethnic groups of Nepal. The Gurung have their own dialect, culture, costumes, and lifestyle. We will have an opportunity to visit the Gurung Museum. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Ghandruk.

Day 10

Tuesday, May 13th

Drive to Pokhara

We will return to Pokhara after breakfast. You will have the afternoon free to explore the lakeside, do some shopping, or relax with a cool beverage. Dinner and overnight in Pokhara.

Day 11

Wednesday, May 14th

Drive to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we will depart for Kathmandu (about 5/6 hours) through beautiful river valleys in the Nepalese countryside. When we reach our hotel, we will have time to relax before dinner. Dinner and overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 12

Thursday, May 15th

Sightseeing tour in Patan & Bhaktapur, overnight in Nagarkot

After breakfast, we will visit Patan Durbar Square. This square is full of ancient pagoda temples and shrines, noted for their exquisite carvings. After lunch in Patan, we will vist another ancient location called Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The main attractions here are the palace of 55 Windows, the Nyatapola Temple and the Dattatraya Temple.We will travel to Nagarkot in the late afteroon for sunset panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the 8,848-meter tall Mount Everest, aka “Top of the World.” Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 13

Friday, May 16th

Visit Nagarkot & Changunarayan Temple, return to Kathmandu

Tody we will rise early to watch the sunrise and incredible views of the Eastern Himalays, including Mt. Everest. We will then have breakfast and travel to the heritage site of Chagunarayan, which is often described as the most ancient temple in the Kathmandu Valley. It’s fifth-century stone inscription is the oldest to be discovered in Nepal. The temple covers sixteen hundred years of Nepalese art history. Built in the 3rd century, it is decorated by some of the best samples of stone, wood, and metal craft in the valley. It is said that when you look upon Changunarayan Temple, you observe the complete cultural development of Kathmandu Valley. After visiting the temple, we will return to Kathmandu for dinner and overnight at a hotel in the city.

Day 14

Saturday, May 17th

Departure from Kathmandu

You will have a chance to do some last minute shopping before being transferred to Kathmandu International Airport for your departure flight.
